The Dean of New Era College Dr Kua Kia Soong was black listed because the information of his MyKad shown “involve in counter-logging campaign”, and pitifully was not allowed to enter Sarawak. From the source, the purpose of this trip to Kuching and Miri is to preside at the graduation ceremony of New Era College.

This event is exactly the same like Tan Seng Hin’s event happened several years ago; same is oppressing the Chinese Educationists.

This event has already demonstrated the power of immigrant right of Sarawak state has been abused by some figures who have the power and influence to oppress the individuals who have different opinion. This time Dr. Kuo was not allowed to enter Sarawak state, the Sarawak government not only encroached on “the national has the right to travel freely within the country” of the basic human right, and also oppressed the environmentalists and the Chinese Educationists. When the whole world is promoting the environmental awareness campaign in order to protect the earth, Malaysia government is not rendering praises and encouragement for the environmentalist to speak the true, instead paste label under their MyKads. This incident not only demonstrated the Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who wants to listen to the truth a big satire, it tells the people that one who speaks the truth must pay a heavy price. Merely, this made the people feel that the Prime Minister’s speaking is a thing, but doing is another thing.

新紀元學院院長柯嘉遜博士因大馬卡資料顯示“涉及反伐木活動”而被列黑名單，並遭禁足砂拉越。據悉，柯氏此行古晉和詩巫，目的是主持新紀元學院教育文憑畢業典禮。

這跟幾年前發生的陳成興事件如出一轍，同樣的在打壓華教人士。

此一事件已經顯示砂州移民自主權己遭一些有權勢人士濫用來打壓異議份子。柯氏此番遭禁足砂州，砂政府除了侵犯“國民有權利在國內自由走動”的基本人權外，也等同打壓環保和華教人士。當全世界都在響應環保運動以保護地球的時候，大馬的政府不是給予這些講真話的環保人士嘉獎鼓勵，反而在其大馬卡下貼標籤。這件事不只顯示首相阿都拉要聽真話的說詞一大諷刺性，更告訴人民講真話的做法是要付出代價的。徒令人民感覺首相的說詞是講一套，做的却是另外一套。

人聯黨不用搶功勞

SUPP no need to claim the credit

The first Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak YB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hong Nam expressed that, it is impossible for the representative of DAP stands at the roundabout to pull the banner and to vainly dream for the construction of the flyover. He said that “The Opposition party only knows to speak and to claim the credit! They cannot actually hand over the result and strive for the development.”

Dap Miri Branch Chairman Fong Pau Teck believed that it is the people who pay the taxes, developments are the government’s responsibilities, under the pressure of the frontier party and the people’s voice, the government executed its duty of the development, based on the common sense, both parties just perform their own responsibilities, no need to take credit for other’s achievement. However, someone has suffered from a seriously lost recalling sickness, obstinately pointed at the frontier party snatching the merit, what’s a pity to see such a course of action, Therefore, PT Fong has no choice but to point out some facts to let all Miri residents to have a look, and to remind someone in the meanwhile.

As PT Fong pointed out, a news on 23 Feb 2006, PKR Mr Chong (張官發) questioned, in 1995, the authority announced in the newspaper that under the 7th Malaysia Plan the Puchong roundabout was planned to build a flyover but where is it now? Mr Chong pointed out at that time, in 2005, Assistant Minister YB Lee Kim Shin announced that, will strive for the construction of the flyover in Puchong roundabout, he does not hope that the plan which was announced by Lee Kim Shin will only put into effect in the 9th or 10th Malaysia Plan.

Moreover, according to a newspaper report on 19 March 2006, Mr Chong(張官發) held a press conference and said, on 19 May 1995, Sarawak government had a plan in Pujut 7 bright to establish a path to south to link up the Miri Airport, but after 11 years, this project has not certainly been carried out. Mr Chong also expressed regrettably, The Federal project minister YB Dato’ Seri S.Samy Vellu came to inspect the progression of the project, the concerned authority did not strive from him for the allocation of fund for the construction of the flyover, and he thought this was the best opportunity to set the request for Samy.

After that, in 27 Apr 2006, Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development & Communications Sarawak YB Lee Kim Shin pointed out in the press conference, The YB Dato’ Seri S.Samy Vellu inspected Miri few days ago pointed out that, due to the scope of the Puchong roundabout was smaller, the construction of the flyover was hard to carry out, therefore, the plan to build a flyover in this place was not taken in. only had to seek for other methods to solve the traffic congestion problem.

Lee Kim Shin also expressed simultaneously, “regarding the plan of the flyover construction in Pujut roundabout, because the copy of the 9th Malaysia plan has not arrived, then we must look at the content of the 9th Malaysia Plan then only we know.”(Newspaper report on 28 Apr 2006)

Till last year during the period of the state election campaign, DAP MP YB Teresa Kok Suh Sim and the Candidate of Pujut, Fong Pau Teck, held a press conference on the roadside of Pujut Corner roundabout called upon the concerned authority to pay attention on the traffic jam problem in Pujut Corner roundabout. (Newspaper report on 19 May 2006)

The then date of the election coming very soon, on 20 May 2006 newspaper reported that YB Dato’ Seri S.Samy Vellu announced Miri will soon carry out two flyovers in Pujut Roundabout and Puchong Roundabout. Samy also specially stressed, this two impractical flyovers were already drawn up the construction plans by the authority earlier, nothing to do with any person who stood on the roundabout. Certainly we have no way to examine closely if there is no reminder from the frontier party, whether the authority still remembered about this plan. But one thing for sure that if these two plans had not been carried out, the DAP MP YB Teresa Kok surely will take this to the Parliament Meeting to find the reason in it.

Looking through the entire incident, no matter PKR, or DAP, have not pulled the banner, also have not claimed the merit. Everybody is only carrying out the complete responsibilities of being a frontier party. PT Fong hopes that the concerned person can check thoroughly the facts first as it will still not be too late to speak.


砂第一副首長拿督巴丁宜丹斯里陳康南表示，行動黨代表站在交通島拉布條便夢想建設高架道，是不可能的。他說：“反對黨只會說和搶功勞而已！實際交出成績和爭取發展，卻無法做到。”

房保德則認為人民繳納稅務，地方發展是政府的責任，在反對黨和人民的輿論壓力下， 政府履行發展的任務，於情於理雙方都只為了盡各自的責任，無需為此而邀功。 然而，有人患了嚴重的失憶症，硬指反對黨搶功勞，此一作法實為令人遺憾的。因此房保德不得不舉出一些事實來讓所有美里市民看看，順便提醒某人。

房保德指出在23/2/06的一則新聞裡，公正黨張官發質問，當局於1995年在報章宣佈埔鐘交通島在第七大馬計劃下擬建造的高架大道在那裡？張先生當時指出，李景勝助理部長於去年（2005）宣布，將爭取埔奕灣交通島建造高架大道，他不希望李景勝所宣布的該項計劃需在第9和第10大馬計劃內才落實。

另外根據19/3/06的新聞報導，張官發又召開記者會說，1995年5月19日，砂州政府有計劃在埔奕7號路橋處開闢一條南下道路貫通美里機場，但事隔11年的今天，這項工程並沒有落實。 張先生也表示遺憾，聯邦工程部長拿督斯里三美維魯來巡視公程進展時， 當局並沒向他爭取美里建造高空架道的撥款，他認為這是最佳時機向三美提出要求。

而後，基本設施發展與通訊部助理部長李景勝在27/4/06的記者會上指出， 公共工程部長拿督斯里三美維魯日前來美里巡視時指出， 由於大鐘樓交通圈的位置範圍較小，要製造架空大道的工程難以進行，所以，在該地建造架空大道的計劃不被接納，唯有尋求其他的方法來解決交通擁擠的問題。

同時李景勝另外又表示，“至於埔奕交通圈的建設架空大道計劃方面，因第九大馬計劃未運抵，則需看第九大馬計劃的內容方知。”（28/4/06的新聞）

到了去年的州選舉競選期間裡，行動黨國會議員郭素沁和行動黨埔奕區候選人房保德在埔奕灣交通島路旁召開記者會呼籲當局關注埔奕交通圈的交通阻塞問題。(19/5/06的新聞報導)

眼看就到了當時的選舉日，在20/5/06的新聞中就報導了工程部長拿督斯里三美維魯宣布美里將落實埔奕交通島與埔鐘交通島的兩座架空大道。 三美還特別強調，該兩座架空大道是當局之前早已擬定的建設計劃，與任何人站在交通島的事無關。當然我們無從考究如沒有在野黨的提醒，有關當局是否還記得這項計劃。但有一點是可以肯定，如果這兩項計劃沒有落實，行動黨的國會議員郭素沁勢必在國會裡追究那不能落實的原因。 由這整個事件來看，不管是公正黨，還是行動黨，沒有拉布條，也沒有搶功勞。大家都只是在履行身為在野政黨應盡的責任而已。房保德希望有關人士能查清事實之後再發言也不遲。

人民才是老闆 選民登記運動

If you are the big boss, the shareholder, the director or the chairman of a board of directors of an enterprise, your firm’s supervisor or manager told you that, the company made profit completely was his merit, you should feel grateful, if otherwise, the profit will not allot to you, what is your feeling of being the biggest shareholder of the board of directors in this situation?

In the same measure, the people are the owners of the country, the resources of the country are the people’s property, and the people pay the tax, entrust the government to manage and to develop the country. The country pursue on a free election democracy system.

If the ruling party told the people, the development funds of the government are limited, if the people did not know how to show their gratefulness but to express hostile toward the government, the government definitely will not make any development to these areas. The people who act as the bosses of the government, how do you think about that, and what feeling do you have now? The development of the places is originally the government’s responsibility, taking the people’s belonging to intimidate and to bargain back and forth, what the hxll is that all about from the government?

The meaning of the election lies on to select the courageous person who can contribute to the country, and to spurn all incompetently corrupted persons. The frontier party acts like an auditor of a big company, when the national leadership incline to corrupt or are incompetent, to select more courageous representatives from the frontier party to monitor actively the administration of the government is the most urgent movement.

Plato said: “ Not involving in politics will face its punishment, that is you will be ruled by those who are worse than you or by useless .”

At present, the government just know to keep on banning the hawker, small shop sellers, but regarding to the profit-making organisation like: the electricity company, the highway company, the monopolistic chargeable television channels and so on, all sort of situations regarding to adjust higher prices by them, the government turned a blind eye, don’t you fade up with these?

For those who have not registered themselves as a voter, should actively and quickly go to the post office to register. As for those who was already a voter, should encourage enthusiastically those non-registrants to proceed quickly to register, use your holy vote, to select the courageously responsible person to replace for those incapable, incompetent, ineffective, and inefficient yes men followers.

選舉的意義在於選出能對國家做出供獻的代議士，唾棄無能腐敗者。 反對黨有如一間大公司的查賬員，當國家領導層趨向腐敗和無能時， 選出更多的反對黨代議士來有效監督政府的施政是當務之急。

由於目前政府只懂得取締小販商家， 對於賺大錢的機構如電力局，大道公司，壟斷市場的收費電視台等， 它們種種提高收費的情況，政府視若無睹，您感到厭煩嗎？ 要改變現狀，唯有通過選票向政府傳達強烈的訊息，政府才有可能聽得到。

未註冊為選民者應積極並迅速地前往郵政局註冊。 對於那些已經是選民者，應積極鼓勵未註冊者前往註冊，用您神聖的一票， 選出盡責的人民代議士來取代那些無作為的應聲蟲！

唯有修改土地法典才能保障人民的土地和產業

Amendment to the Sarawak Land Code can only safeguard people’s lands and properties

According to newspaper report on 6 July 2007, the official of the Land and Survey pointed out that the application for the land lease renewal for the extension period can be 60 years or 99 years. As for the renewal for the agricultural land, the owner must fill all details of the plant species, the quantities and the tree age in the land extension application form. The owner also can take some photos of the plant. According to the official, the authority will examine the application of the land site, if it is not acquired by the government for development purposes, the related application will be approved. The application procedure at least will take 1 to 2 years then only to be able to obtain the official answer from the authority.

In accordance with the press statement made by the official, The DAP Miri branch chairman Fong Pau Teck then issues a press statement that wants the government to make clear explanation to the public. Whether the authority takes such complicated procedure to examine the application of a particular land site of which the land has been acquired by the government for development purpose or not with the result of 1 to 2 years is needed then only can reply the owner in respond with their land application? If yes, is it necessary to review?

On the other hand, need to fill in the details of the plant species and to provide photos, does this indicate that this is one of the conditions which the government considers whether or not to renew the land title deed? If it is so, the government should not send out such misleading opinion saying that if the application of the land site is not acquired by the government for development purposes, the related application will be approved. In other words, does this also indicate that if the agricultural land has no planting, even if it is not acquired by the government but the land lease still cannot be renewed?

In the aspect of the renewal premium of the agricultural land, the cheapest will be the countryside agricultural land; every acre will only need RM200. At present, such kind of land law which bring disadvantages to the landowners if it is not going to be amended even every acre renewal premium is cut down to RM20, the people are still unable to ensure whether the properties which were handed down by their ancestors will be able to keep by successful renewal of the land lease. The people should polish their eyes, not to believe all empty guaranties by the BN politicians.

Fong Pau Teck called upon all populace to get a clear understanding of the difference between ‘law’ and ‘policy’. A safeguard of the people’s properties can only be obtained through the amendment of the existing land regulation. He also pointed out that ‘policy’ can be revised anytime, as long as receiving the instruction from the powerful person of the State government, today is such a policy, the next day can be changed to another as long as the powerful man is happy. Now the reduction of the land renewal premium is the example, no safeguard can be shown toward people’s properties. But ‘law’ is then different. The law can only be changed after the majority have approved by voting through the state assembly men meeting, people’s property can only be protected under the law, if some ministries of the government do not handle the affairs according to the law, and the people have the right to sue the concerned government department to the court.

6/7/07 的一則新聞報導，土地局官員指出，申請土地更新或延長期限分為60年或99年。在更新農業地方面，業主必須在延長土地年限的申請表上填寫土地所種植的植物種類、數量和樹齡。業主亦可拍下所種植的植物。據官員指出，當局會查看申請地段，若沒有被政府徵用作發展用途，有關申請將會獲得批准。而申請程序至少需時1至2 年才會獲得當局的正式答覆。

民主行動黨美里支部主席房保德今針對土地局官員談話發表一文告，要州政府向人民解釋，當局查看申請地段有否被政府徵用發展用途的手續是否繁複，以致需1至2年時間才能答覆地主對土地的申請。如果是，是否有必要檢討？

另一方面，要填寫所種植的植物資料和提供照片， 是否意謂著政府將之作為更不更新地契年限的考量條件之一？ 如果是如此，政府則不應該發出諸如申請地段若沒被政府徵用作發展用途，有關申請將會獲得批准，的誤導性言論。換句話說，是否也意謂着農業地如果沒有種植的話，即使政府沒有要徵用也不能獲得更新地契年限？

農業地的更新費方面，最便宜的是郊區的農業地，每依甲僅需200令吉。目前各種不利於地主的土地法令如不修改，即使每依甲的更新稅降低至20令吉， 人民仍然無法確保祖宗傳下的產業能夠獲得延長地契年限而得以保全。人民應該擦亮雙眼，不要相信政客的空洞保證。

房保德呼籲民眾要認清「法律」和「政策」的不同，人民的產業唯有在現有的土地法令修改之下才能夠得到保障。他也指出「政策」隨時可以被修改，只要受到州政府內有權力人士的指示，今天是這樣的政策，明天只要他高興又可以修改成另一個政策，現在土地更新稅的降價就是一個例子，對人民的產業一點保障都沒有。但「法律」則不同，要修改法律則要經過州議會多數決的通過才可以修改，人民的產業只有在法律之下才會有保障，如果政府某部門不依法行事，人民有權利把那相關政府部門告到法院去。

國陣政府才是通貨膨脹的罪魁禍首

The privatized Telekom company too, forced the customers to install the voicebox, when the line cannot get through, it will pass the customers automatically and directly into the message voicebox, caused the customers paid automatically to enhance their aim on their money making goal; the increment of the assessment fees by the local council and so on; till recently the intension to rise the car examined fees and rise further on the deposit and the license fees of the fishing boats, all without exception demonstrated BN government’s hegemonic politics.

All measures above resulted the businessmen suffered from the unceasingly increased in cost, instead, our Trade Department kept silence on the rising in price by all government related companies, only know hitting on the feeble merchants. One of the Mama Stall in West Malaysia, the price of the ice Milo was more expensive than the normal day for 20 to 30 cents and finally was fined twenty two thousand and five hundred ringgit. According to the understanding, the Domestic trade and consumer personnel department also confiscated 750 ringgit food and drink, and tore down the restaurant shop signboard. In accordance with a few cents of the boiled water and 20 to 30 cents increased in the ice Milo and set out a large military-like-force, it is simply a waste of the national resources.

Fong Pau Teck pointed out that our society resulted to be like today, certainly, we should first give a “credit” to the BN government’s “wise”, but get to the heart of the matter we still found out the imbalance of the our politic, politic once found to be unbalanced, it means that it has lost the surveillance function, and caused the entire government department’s operation out of control, embezzlement and corruption grow thickly, a pile of corrupted officials, and caused the society malfunction. It is not that easy to change each kind of random matter happened in today’s society, unless the populace are all in one mind to voice out their will through their votes in the coming parliament election.

國陣政府今天的做法就如同只許官家放火不許百姓點燈，我們可以看到國陣政府如何運用他們的權力來批准跟他們有關連的一些獨營公司漲價。

2006年2月28日的燃油起價問題我們都還記憶猶新，政府也批准西馬的大道公司起過路費，獨營的收費電視頻道也調高收費，州政府也允許非常賺錢的砂州電力工司在今年4月1日調漲電費 ，私營化獨家的電話公司也借着強制客戶按裝語音信箱，當電話不通時使客戶直接進入語音留言信箱，使客戶自動扣錢來達到他們提高營收的目的；地方議會調高門牌稅等；到最近要調漲的驗車費和大幅的提高漁船的抵押金和執照費，無一不顯示出國陣的霸權政治。

以上種種的措施都造成商家的成本不斷的提高，反觀我們的貿修部對政府關連公司的起價隻字不提，只懂得一味打壓手無縛雞之力的商家。在西馬一家嘛嘛餐館賣RM1.80的美祿冰比平時貴20至30仙而被罰款2萬2仟500令吉，據了解，國內貿易及消費人事務部還充公了750令吉的食物和飲料，並拆掉餐館的招牌。針對幾毛錢的白開水和貴20至30仙的美祿冰出動大隊人馬，簡直就是浪費國家的資源。

房保德指出我們的社會會有今天的局面，當然首先還是要“歸功”國陣政府的“英明”，但追根究底也是我們的政治失去的平衡，政治一旦失衡，也意謂說失去了監督的功能，導致整個政府部門運作失序，貪污腐敗叢生，一堆的貪官污吏，導致社會功能不彰。要改變我們今天社會的各種亂象並非易事，除非人民萬眾一心在國會選舉到來時用選票來跟國陣政府講話！

人聯不要在華文媒體煽動華族情緒

Supp shouldn’t intimidate racist emotion among Chinese in Chinese press.

On 26/06/2007 press statement, the Supp Treasurer YB Datuk David Teng Lung Chi (鄧倫奇) expressed, if people choose to support the opposition party and leave the political power mainstream, using the minority strength to support opposition party exerting pressure, the obvious result is that the bumi mainstream political power may not need to depend upon the non-bumi Chinese race to participate in the politics, then the bumi can rule this country on their own.

In this situation, he said, all unreasonable politically administrative deviation cannot be obtained in an effective solution; this is the route of the opposition party. However, another choice is Supp believing by participating in the mainstream political power on a long term conferral, in order to maintain the rights and the interests of the Chinese, to ensure the stability and the progress of the all people.

Regarding Mr Teng’s (鄧倫奇) opinion, Fong Pau Teck pointed out that our country is a multi-races society, Mr Teng’s opinion will destroy seriously the harmoniously relationship among all races, Supp self-praised to be the multi-races political party, ought to point out the government’s politically administrative deviation, to treat all races fairly, but not to stir up the Chinese emotion through the Chinese press, and treat the native (bumi) as enemies in mind.

On the other hand, on 26/06/2007, The Secretary general YBhg Datuk Sim Kheng Hui (沈慶輝) also expressed similarly, the people should possess of the so-called crisis consciousness, although we are living in a peaceful and tranquil living conditions every day, but these peaceful and tranquil living conditions certainly are not rendered freely from the sky, in stead, all are exchanged with people’s blood and tears.

According to him, in those very years, Supp was during the period of the opposition party, many branches and the subdivision were forced to close down, and the party members were arrested into the prison, with the trading of the struggles of those diligent people in those day, only for the peace and freedom for today’s people.

According to Mr Sim’s opinion, Fong also pointed out, Supp in the period of the opposition party, Supp could strive for the people and acquired the peacefulness and the tranquil living environment, then, Supp should suppose not to deny the exerting pressure way which is carried out by the opposition party nowadays should also contribute to this country, Supp should not obliterate the contributions of the opposition party for the country.

Supp supposed to speak out all sorts of problems they faced while striving for the rights and the interests of the people such as the Chinese Education issue, and declare what ways will be used in the future to continue to fight for it, so as to eliminate the people’s thinking or view that Supp dares not to fight for the people, and dares not to stick on the righteousness. After all, many states in Malaysia have already been institutionalized to allocate funds to Chinese Independent Schools year to year, but what reasons shouldn’t the Sarawak state government imitate so as to show the fair treatment to various races of people?

It has been well known that the functions of the ruling party and the frontier party are different, both has its own duty, the frontier party’s ways of exerting pressure helped Supp the ruling party’s closing door striving, closing door negotiation, and accelerated its progress. If the ruling party has failed the people’s expectation, the people then repose their hope to the frontier party, this is the populace’s wise choice. It is also a good way to stimulate the ruling party not to slow-down at work. Simultaneously, Fong Pau Teck called upon all wise Supp members to stop and spurn out-and-out those leaders who sent out instigating opinions which alienated the relationship among all races of people, in order to prevent the gap of the various races expanded further, and let the people thought that Supp is the party which stirred up the racist emotion of all races.

人聯黨中央財政拿督鄧倫奇在26/06/07報章表示，如果選擇支持反對黨離開政權的主流，以少數的力量來支持反對黨施壓，可見的結果是土著主流政權，可以在不需要依靠非土著的華族政治參與，而自我統治這個國家。

在這種情況下，他說，所有不合理的施政偏差，不能獲得有效的解決，這是反對黨的路線。但是，在另一種的選擇是人聯黨所堅信的參與主流政權以長時栛商式和作法，來維護華族的權益，和確保全民的安定和進步。

對於鄧倫奇的言論，房保德指出，我國是多元種族社會，鄧倫奇的上述言論將嚴重破壞各族之間的和睦關係，人聯黨自我標榜為多元種族政黨，理應指出政府施政的偏差，公平對待各族人民，而不是在華文媒體煽動華族，視土著為假想敵人。

另一方面，人聯黨中央秘書長沈慶輝也同樣在26/06/07報章中表示，人們應有所謂的危機意識，雖然說我們每天都生活在和平與安寧的生活環境當中，但是這些和平與安寧的生活環境並不是從天而降的，是許多人用血淚所換回來的。

據他表示，當年在人聯黨處在反對黨時期，面對許多支部及分部被封閉，黨員被捉進牢房。也是在這些人的努力爭取下，人們才換來今天的自由與和平。

房保德根據沈慶輝的言論又指出，人聯黨在反對黨時期，既然能為人民爭取到今天的和平與安寧的生活環境。那麼，人聯黨就不應該否定反對黨的施壓方式，和抹煞反對黨對國家的貢獻。

人聯黨應該公佈在爭取人民權益如華教課題的過程中所面對的種種問題，和在未來將採取何種方式繼續爭取，以消除人民認為人聯黨不敢為民爭取，不敢杖義執言的看法。畢竟，國內多個州都己制度化常年撥款華文獨中，本州政府有何理由不仿傚以示公平對待各族人民？

眾所周知執政黨和在野黨的功能不同，各司其識。在野黨的施壓方式有助身為執政黨的人聯內部爭取，內部協商，並加速其進度。如執政的政黨擔誤了選民的期望，人民進而轉而寄託於在野政黨，是民眾智慧的選擇，也是刺激執政的政黨不要怠工的一個好方法。同時房保德呼籲有智慧的人聯黨員應該阻止和唾棄思想極端的領袖發出挑撥各族關係的言論，以防止各族人民之間的鴻溝進一步擴大，讓人民誤以為人聯是搞種族情緒的一個政黨。

陳康南的言論另人擔心

Dr. George Chan’s opinion makes people worried

The president of Supp, YB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hong Nam, expressed extremely worried that some medias started the route to try to please the public with claptrap, and they even jutted out to react against the mainstream political sound opinion, these opinions lacked of political correctness, and caused the wide readers and the government to come into estranged affection, deviated the orthodox functions of the past medias.

He emphasized that as public organizations, mass media, frequently used “protect Democracy” as a pretext, and shouted out “the right to know” to people, exaggerating some government’s faults or politicians’ misbehaviour, caused people to prejudice the politicians and the government’s that then affected the cooperation in between the officials and the people to create a goal for a prosperous society.

He said, the purposes of some newspaper are for profit making only and publish many bad reports about the government and the society, this newspaper is unworthy for us to read and support.

He expressed that, in order to fish for the political capital, certain politicians started to make used of the media to create things just to frighten the people, distorting the government’s favourable policy to the plunderage of resources. On the other hand, described oneself as the people’s hero. Part of the public who do not have the analytic abilities probably can be misled, in which produced misunderstanding to the government, and finally affected the public policy to be carried out smoothly. He then added, the government development funds were limited, if the people are hostile toward the government, that area does not welcome the government and intends to overthrow the government, the government definitely will not develop this area.

Deputy Chief Minister’s opinion made people felt uncomfortable, if brother Nam thought that presently most people generally felt disaffection toward the government was due to the politicians’ misleading and the claptrap from the press, he should truly point out in the press which politicians and newspapers made such impractical opinion to defame the government, and he may make suitably clarifies, even he could take action to bring them to the court in order to ensure a correct understanding of the facts, but not to make threatened opinion to the kind citizens by saying not to develop those areas.

At present, our country adopts the free election democratic system, the people have the right to choose the ideal courageous person, if people prefer to elect the candidates of the frontier party to be the people representatives, the person in power use the people in certain areas do not welcome the government or intend to overthrow the government as an excuse to refuse to carry on any development to that certain areas. Had this lost the meaning of free election of democratic system? People are kind and neutral, people vote for the frontier party candidates, certainly do not mean that the people want to overthrow the government, the people only want to transmit some messages through their votes to the government, to express their dissatisfaction toward some policies and to spurn those representatives who are unable to express the public opinions. If certain policies, embark from the people’s point of views, regardless from any angles to look into them, still cannot find out any advantages for the people, the ruling party should have more ways and spaces than the frontier party to transmit the government’s messages to the people. Why do the people still tend to listen respectfully to and believe in the frontier party’s political view?

After the government increased the fuel prices, all domestic products inflated, the government warned the merchants cannot raise the daily necessities prices ceaselessly, otherwise will suffer official tackle seriously. Some reports showed in the Malaysian Website pointed out that one of the Mama Stall in West Malaysia, the price of the ice Milo was more expensive than the normal day for 20 to 30 cents and finally was fined twenty two thousand and five hundred ringgit. According to the report, the Domestic trade and consumer personnel department also confiscated 750 ringgit food and drink, and tore down the restaurant signboard.

On the other hand, the government allowed the profit-making highway to increase the toll fees, and expressed that if do not allow the charging highway to increase the toll fees; the government would compensate a large amount of money to the highway company. When the chargeable television channel collected high charges from the people, minister said, if the people complain of the high charges, they may choose not to watch. There are non-chargeable television channels like TV1, TV2, and TV3 available domestically, but the government has no intention to open for non-chargeable satellite television programme from other countries. BN government allowed the profit-making electrical company to have traffic hike, allowed city councils and local councils to collect higher assessment fees for the reason those department had not adjusted the assessment fees for several ten years. But the government had not considered the users for the electrical company and the houses too had increased how many times if compared to several decades ago? The increment of the customers does it not mean that the income increased, moreover, the profit increase too?

Because of all sort of charges increased, people do not have enough money to spend, the workers requested the employers to raise the salary, but for those hawkers who are also the bosses themselves too or the shop owners of the small grocery stores, whom could they request the increment of salary from? The similar income is insufficient to deal with the soaring expenses nowadays, how to survive if do not adjust the prices? The government has the responsibility to ensure that the highway company not to lose money in business, but do not care about the people, only suffering people know their own's pain.

Brother Nam should understand that the government has the necessity to examine those policies which caused people arose negative view, like what the SUPP Lanang sub-branch secretary said, the leaders and the members of the opposition party are not the enemies of the country, they are not the competitors for the ruling party, look into the people’s aspiration which raised by the opposition party positively, absorb the good lessons from the neighbouring country about the ignoring of the people’s aspiration and caused the collapse of the government.


砂州第一副首長陳康南表示非常擔心，一些媒體開始走向嘩眾取寵的路線，甚至突出反抗主流的政治聲音的言論，這些言論缺乏政治正確，使到廣大讀者與政府產生疏離作用，偏離了過去媒體正統意義上的上情下達的功能。

他強調，作為公共機構的大眾媒體，經常動輒以保護 “民主” 為藉口，為人民有 “知的權利” 而渲染、誇大政府的一些失誤或政治人物言行的疏失，使人們對政治人物，對政府的偏見，進而影響官民合作，共同創造繁榮社會的目標。

他說，有些報章就是為了賺錢而對政府及社會作出許多不良的報導，而這份報紙就不值得我們去看及支持了。

他表示，某些政客為了撈取政治資本，開始利用媒體來制造危言聳聽的言論，把政府的利民政策扭曲為掠奪資源。相反的，却把自己描述成民族英雄，部份沒有分析能力的公眾，可能會受到誤導，而對政府產生誤解，進而影響到公共政策的順利執行。他還說，政府發展基金有限，若人民仇視政府，該地區不歡迎及有意推翻政府，政府肯定不會對該地區作出發展。

副首長的言論令人看了多全身不自在，南哥既然認為目前人民普遍對政府感到不滿是因為受到政客的誤導和媒體的嘩眾取寵式的報導而影響，他應確實地在媒體指出是哪些政客和報章作出哪些不切實際的言論來底毁政府，並且可作出適當的澄清，甚至可以採取行動把彼得提控上庭以正視聽，而不是對善良的百姓作出不發展彼等地區的恐嚇性言論。

我國目前採取自由選舉的民主制度，人民有權力選出心目中的人民代議士，當人民傾向於投在野黨的候選人成為代議仕時，當權者却以該區人民不歡迎政府或有意推翻政府為由而拒絕對該區進行發展，是否已經失去了自由民主選舉的意義呢？人民是善良而中立的，人民票投在野黨的候選人，並不意味着人民要推翻政府，人民只是要通過手中的選票向政府傳達一些訊息，來表達他們對於某些政策的不滿以及唾棄一些無法表達民意的議員。如某些政策，從人民的角度出發，無論是横看還是竪看，都看不出那裡利民，執政黨應該比在野黨，有更多的管道和空間向人民傳達政府的訊息，為什麼人民傾向於聆聽和相信在野黨的言論呢？

當政府調高國內的燃油價格後，國內百物隨着水漲船高，政府警吿商家不可胡亂抬高日用品的價格，否則將遭受嚴厲取締行動的對付，馬來西亞網站的一些報導指在西馬一家嘛嘛餐館賣美祿冰比平時貴20至30仙而被罰款2萬2仟500令吉。據了解，國內貿易及消費人事務部還充公了750令吉的食物和飲料，並拆掉餐館的招牌。但另一方面，政府却批准賺錢的收費大道調高收費，並表示如果不批准收費大道調高收費，政府須賠償大道公司巨額款項。當收費電視頻道向人民調高收費時，部長說，人民如困嫌收費電視台的收費貴可以選擇不看，國內有的是無收費電視台如TV1, TV2, TV3 等！但政府却無意開放來自其他國家的免收費衞星轉播電視節目。國陣政府批准賺錢的電力公司調高電費，市政局和市議會調高門牌稅，理由是這些部門己經有幾十年沒調高收費了。但是政府却沒有考慮電力公司的用戶和房屋比前幾十年已增加了多少倍？增加的客戶不是等於收入增加，而且盈利隨著增加嗎？

由於種種收費的調高，人民的錢不夠用，工人要求老板加薪，但自己也身老板的小販或小雜貨店店主，可向誰來要求加薪？同樣的收入己不足以應付高昂的開銷，不調高物價如何生存？政府有義務確保大道公司不賠錢，苦哈哈的人民有苦唯有自己知。

南哥應該了解，政府有必要檢討那些引起人民負面看法的政策，誠如人聯黨南蘭律事務秘書所言，反對黨的領袖和黨員並不是國家的敵人，他們不是執政黨的競爭對手，正面看待反對黨所提出的人民的心聲，吸取鄰國罔顧民意導致政府垮台的教訓。
