Malaysia is not an Islamic State

1. What is an Islamic State ?

“Islamic State” is a State governed and guided by Islamic principles. In an Islamic State, all citizens, whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims, must abide by Islamic rules and regulations, and must be governed and ruled according to Islamic principles.

In 2001, a scholar well-versed in Islamic jurisprudence, Chandra Muzaffar, wrote an article in Penang, affirming that: the Quran makes no mention of the establishment of an “Islamic State”.

Patricia Martinez, a Ph.D holder, pointed out that, in an Islamic State, non-Muslims are known as Dhimmi (or Zimmi). Dhimmi are in fact people who are subjugated by the Muslims. They are only entitled to be second-class citizens. They do not enjoy equal rights as ordinary Muslims do. This goes against the provisions of the Federal Constitution which guarantee fundamental liberties, that is, basic human rights. In other words, such practice violates the constitutional provision of the fundamental human right of “equality before the law” (See Article 8).

This would mean that, once our country becomes an Islamic State, it will adversely affect the position, interests and rights of the non-Muslims. That will have far-reaching consequences and implications on the rights of various communities in all aspects, such as political, economic, cultural and educational aspects.

2. Federal Constitution : Malaysia is a secular state

As a constitutional democracy, Malaysia is not an Islamic State according to our Federal Constitution and the existing law. Whether or not our country is an Islamic State, is not to be arbitrarily declared by an executive head of the government.

The administrative head of the government must act according to the Federal Constitution and the existing law. If he acts according to his whims and fancies, having no regard for the provisions of the Federal Constitution and the current law, this country is no longer a constitutional democracy. In reality, it is sliding towards authoritarianism, or fast becoming an oligarchy, that is, a government by a tiny minority.

The provisions of the Constitution and the laws of a genuine Islamic State usually state clearly that the country is an Islamic State. Good examples are Iran and Pakistan. However, our Federal Constitution stipulates otherwise:

“Islam is the religion of the Federation; but other religions may be practised in peace and harmony in any part of the Federation”: Article 3(1).

“Every person has the right to profess and practise his religion and … to propagate it”: Article 11 (1).

3. Historical facts show that Malaysia is a secular state!

(1) In 1957, just before independence, the Reid Constitutional Commission drafted the “Constitution of the Federation of Malaya”. The Report of the Reid Commission, in paragraph 169, says:

“We have considered the question whether there should be any statement in the Constitution to the effect that Islam should be the State religion. There was universal agreement that if any such provision were inserted it must be made clear that it would not in any way affect the civil rights of non-Muslims.

“In the memorandum submitted by the Alliance it was stated that the religion of Malaysia shall be Islam. The observance of this principle shall not impose any disability on Muslim nationals professing and practising their own religions, and shall not imply that the State is not a secular State.”

The Report showed that even though Islam is the official religion of Malaya, it does not mean that this country is an Islamic State. It is still a secular State.

In other words, in 1957 even before independence, the Alliance government had confirmed that, our country is a “secular state” after independence.

(2) In 1957, the Alliance government presented a White Paper titled “Federation of Malaysia Constitutional Proposals 1957” to describe the more important changes in the recommendations of the Constitutional Commission. This White Paper is to be read in conjunction with the Report of the Reid Commission.

(3) One of the important changes relates to the freedom of religion, and confirms that this country is a secular state even though Islam is declared to be official religion of the Federation. Paragraph 57 of the White Paper says:

“There has been included in the proposed Federal Constitution a declaration that Islam is the religion of the Federation. This will in no way affect the present position of the Federation as a secular state, and every person shall have the right to profess and practise his own religion, and the right to propagate his religion, though this last right is subject to any restrictions imposed by the State law relating to the propagation of any religious doctrine or belief among persons professing the Muslim religion.”

The speech by first Prime Minister Tungku Abdul Rahman in 1958

In 1958, a member of Parliament attempted to describe our country as an Islamic State, and felt that it was not appropriate to serve drinks on official functions. But our first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman expressed his regrets about the statement made by the MP. He declared in Parliament that: “I must make it clear that this country is not an Islamic State as the general public would have imagined. In fact, we only regard Islam as the official religion of the country.”

[See Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim “The Position of Islam in the Constitution of Malaysia” The late Dr Ahamd Ibrahim was an expert on Islamic Law in Malaysia.]

An assurance given by “Cobbald Commission” in 1962

When Malaysia was about to be formed in 1962, to avoid any doubts among the peoples of North Borneo and Sarawak about the position of Islam, as well as to prevent their opposition to the formation of Malaysia, the Malayan government gave an assurance in the Report of the Cobbald Commission that Article 3 of the Federal Constitution would not in any way jeopardise the freedom of religion in the Federation. The Federation of Malaysia will be a secular state.

An interview with Tunku Abdul Rahman in 1988

In 1988, the first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman gave an interview, and made a statement to the following effect:
“Now or in the near future, it is unnecessary to pretend that Malaysia will become an Islamic state. It is for the people to choose to become Muslims, and it is not for the State to decide. It must be left to the people’s own free will.

Article 3(1) of the Federal Constitution provides:

“Islam is the religion of the Federation; but other religions may be practised in peace and harmony in any part of the Federation.”

There is no provision in the Federal Constitution which stipulates that Malaysia is an Islamic State. “…the law in this country is still what it is today, secular …” (See Che Omar case 1988)

Secular English Law applies in this country

In fact, in 1956, before independence, there was legislation providing that this country must adopt the secular English Law, and not the Islamic Law. This piece of legislation was known as the Civil Law Ordinance 1956, which came into effect on 7 April 1956: s.3(1).

[Note: The English Law adopted by the various states is somehow different. West Malaysia adopted the English Law as at 7 April 1956. Sabah adopted the earlier English Law as at 1 December 1951. Sarawak basically adopted the earliest English Law as at 12 December 1949.]

The secular English Law mentioned above is applicable to this country until today.

Supreme Court in 1988: Malaysia is not an Islamic State.

On 29 February 1988, in a Supreme Court case of Che Omar bin Che Soh v Public Prosecutor. (The Supreme Court was formerly known as the “Federal Court”) 5 Supreme Court Judges sat and decided that Malaysia is not an Islamic State, but a secular state. Although Islam is the official religion of our country, the Islamic ceremony is to be used in official functions only.

The facts of the case are as follows:

A Muslim, was charged under the Arms (Increased Penalty) Act 1971 for being in possession of arms. He was sentenced to death. He appealed to the Supreme Court. The argument put forth by the defence counsel was: to impose death sentence in such a case was contrary to the Islamic Law; it was unconstitutional; since Islam is the official religion of the Federation, no death penalty should be imposed. But the Supreme Court did not accept such argument.

Tun Salleh Abas, the then Lord President of the Supreme Court, discussed the history of our Federal Constitution. He said that during the period of the British rule since the 19th century, “through their system of indirect rule and establishment of secular institutions, Islamic law was render isolated in a narrow confinement of “the law of marriage, divorce and inheritance only”.

To argue that Malaysia is an Islamic State “will be contrary to the constitutional and legal history of the Federation” The Civil Law Act provides for the introduction of English law in this country.

Article 3 of the Federal Constitution (that provides: Islam is the religion of the Federation), merely relates to Islamic rituals and ceremonies. It does not involve the entire concept of Islam. “The all-embracing concept of Islam is not limited to Islamic rituals and ceremonies only, but it is a comprehensive system of life, including its jurisprudence and moral standard”.

Prime Minister has no legal authority to declare that Malaysia is an Islamic State

By virtue of the doctrine of separation of powers, which is the basic principle of parliamentary democracy, the Prime Minister, as the executive head of the government, has no legal authority to declare our country as an Islamic State. Whether this country is an Islamic State or not, it has to be determined by the Constitution and the legal decisions of our Courts. In other words, it is within the purview of the judiciary, and not the executive.

The reason for this is that because in a parliamentary democracy, the doctrine of separation of powers applies. It requires the three branches of the State to be separate and apart from each other. No branch should encroach upon the province of the other. In particular, the judiciary ought not to be interfered with.

The judiciary must be independent. Any court decision should not be arbitrarily ignored by the executive head of the government. It is for the legislature, that is, Parliament, to amend the law and alter the decision of the highest court.

A decision of the Supreme Court (the highest court) is the final decision on the current law of the land. It must be respected and followed by every administrative head of the government and his officials. It can only be removed by Parliament introducing amendments to the current law. Under the doctrine of separation of powers, the head of the government has no legal authority to jettison overboard any decision of the Supreme Court at his whims and fancies.

(Source: Suaram: Viewed From the Legal Perspective, Malaysia is Not an Islamic State.)

Malaysia is certainly NOT an Islamic State

On 14 April 2004, Nanyang Siang Bao published a piece of news that the Chinese Study Research Centre, Kuala Lumpur conducted a discussion on the issue: “Is Malaysia an Islamic State?” The gist of the discussion is summarized as follows:

When our government declared that Malaysia is an Islamic State, it should have considered whether such declaration is consistent with the Federal Constitution.

Constitutionalism implies that power is to be restricted. We do not believe in a “government with absolute power”. It must be a “government with restricted power”. This is not so in the case of a government in an Islamic State.

Viewed from the historical perspective, constitutionalism had its origins in the dissatisfaction with totalitarianism. The main purpose of a Constitution is to decentralise the powers of the government with a view to preventing the emergence of a totalitarian government.

The BN government affirmed that it will not amend the Federal Constitution. On the other hand, it has openly declared that Malaysia is an Islamic State. This is far from being reasonable, and its legality is open to question.

In Malaysia, the Federal Constitution is the supreme law of the land. The supremacy of the Constitution implies that our Constitution is never a constitution of an Islamic State, where the divine law is above all secular law, including the Federal Constitution. The Federal Constitution is secular in nature, and not divine law.

The secular Federal Constitution has been upheld and practised up to this date. Such practice is inconceivable in an Islamic State. Any law in contravention of our Federal Constitution is void. Any law, whether it is divine or otherwise, which is inconsistent with the spirit of the Constitution as the supreme law of the land, is unconstitutional.

An Islamic State is largely governed by the Islamic Law. But it is common knowledge that the laws of Malaysia are not Islamic law. Since Malaysia as a whole is not governed by Islamic law, how on earth can Malaysia be described as an Islamic State?

In Malaysia, the Federal government and the State Government administer different sets of law. With regard to the Islamic law, each State government is responsible for the administration of the Islamic law in its State only. The Federal government is above the State government. A State government has only power to administer Muslim affairs in its own State. It is therefore beyond power of any State government to direct the Federal government to request all the States to implement Islamic law.

Today, the issue of an Islamic State must be thoroughly argued from the political point of view. The major problem that we are facing is: that the Islamic State is completely a different system incompatible with our secular system. Many Islamic States all over the world are plagued by various problems, which can only be resolved by way of resorting to the establishment of an authoritarian rule. It may be necessary to go beyond viewing the issue from the perspective of our Federal Constitution alone, since the solution lies with politics in the ultimate analysis.

The issue of the Islamic State should also be looked at from the socio-economic point of view. This is especially so when we make a study of the Middle East countries. These countries are slow in the process of modernization, unlike the European countries, which have undergone modernization at a fast pace. The only Islamic State which gets on the bandwagon of modernisation is Turkey, the reason being that it constantly undergoes the process of secularization.

If we acknowledge openly that Malaysia is an Islamic State, attempts will be made to amend the Federal Constitution in line with the Islamic jurisprudence. Therefore, we must reject outright the spurious argument that Malaysia is an Islamic State, or the muddle-headed thinking that this country is a so-called “secular Islamic State”.

We must disagree with such argument. We must reject such argument by way of expressing our sentiments of dissatisfaction, otherwise, the specious claim that Malaysia is an Islamic State may become an accomplished fact.

Beware - BN’s “Islamisation” conspiracy!

BN leaders are trying to disseminate a misleading statement and create a false impression that “at the time of achieving independence, our predecessors had obtained consent from the various communities. That this country is an Islamic State is acceptable to the Chinese ethnic group. Such state of affairs has existed for the past few decades and it will not be changed.”

In reality, this is a travesty or distortion of history. It is a vain attempt to put us off guard, with a view to warding off the tide of discontent which has been building up over the years.

On 24 November 2003, Nanyang Siang Bao carried an article titled “UMNO’s Policy of Islamisation”. It pointedly levelled criticism against UMNO for implementing its islamisation policy on the sly. UMNO pursued such policy with a view to ultimately amending the Federal Constitution at an opportune time, thereby converting Malaysia to an Islamic State.

“We should not rely on the numerical strength of UMNO as a relatively large ethnic group to oppose theocracy, that is, a country that is governed by religious leaders. A detailed study of UMNO’s Islamisation policy shows that the policy is being implemented gradually and imperceptibly. Compared to PAS, UMNO are short of theoreticians on theocracy who are able to formulate Islamic policies. UMNO is not in a position to present a more Islamic policy or blueprint than PAS.

But we cannot rule out the possibility of UMNO being able to complete with PAS. UMNO leaders frequently disseminate erroneous ideas among the public just to confound the voters. They try to argue that UMNO has more liberal and advanced Islamic policy than PAS, and that the policy adopted by PAS is “conservative and feudalistic’. UMNO even went to the extent of declaring openly that Malaysia is already an Islamic State.

UMNO’s Islamisation policy is implemented in a gradual but effective manner. With the passage of time, UMNO may be on a par with PAS in the process of implementing islamisation policy.

UMNO’s islamisation policy manifests itself in the manner the local authorities exercise their administrative powers, for example, restricting the business hours of the places of entertainment; limiting the size of the advertisement posters on drinks in the Chinese coffee shops; monitoring the “sinful” conduct of persons in public places; and restricting pork stalls to designated secluded areas.

In conclusion, it may be said that PAS declares openly and publicly its intention to realise an Islamic State, though PAS is a relatively smaller political party. On the other hand, UMNO, as a larger political party, does it surreptitiously. Each of them adopts a different approach to please its respective voters.

The open and transparent approach adopted by PAS certainly attracts Muslims, but it scares away non-Muslims. On the contrary, the gradual and stealthy approach adopted by UMNO puts the non-Muslims off guard, but garners the support of the Muslims. The conspicuous reticence or acquiescence of the non-Muslim political parties within BN serves to give the green light to UMNO to go ahead with their sinister plan to establish an Islamic State free from all inhibitions.

Say ‘NO’ to an Islamic State now, or we will soon be in it.

DAP’s firm and unequivocal stand is:

Malaysia is not an Islamic State.
Malaysia is a secular state.

Give us your full support to defend our country as a secular state!

Remember Raja Petra said: More than 90% of malays were actually non-Muslims, because they don't follow the teaching of Islam.

Can a true Muslim prohibit another Muslim to build a mosque? Any part of koran said to build a mosque for the Chinese Muslims is haram? Another Malaysia Boleh one story yah?

I firmly believe, when I die and go to hell, I will meet many "Malaysian Muslims" there, all the munafik who used Islam not for them to be closer to God, but for their idiotic, selfish and vicious self-interest.

More classic examples of half-past-six mentalities displayed by the present so-called leaders, ministers, and worst of all politicians (monkey-brain), bad for the nation but good for those who knows how to take advantage of their stupidity.

Religion alone can never help us to become more clever and smart, especially with the present attitude and style of the malays, who are going backwards more and more, and heading for the caves and jungles in time to come.

In Malaysia the constitution is not the supreme document in law. It has been so trampled by the Umno gangsters; it has come to a point where these gangsters are a law unto themselves. To them the constitution is respected when it suits their intents and toilet paper when it does not.

Mob rule is tolerated by the police when it is an Umno orchestrated mob. Non-Umno gatherings are an inconvenience and clobbered to pulp.

Malaysia is dead as a nation. They are dying to call this land Tanah Melayu so we might as well let them destroyed it. It is no loss to the non-malays since they are treated as pendatang anyway.

Let these gangsters plunder and rob their own kind. They are notorious for inbreeding in any case. They would probably enjoy devouring their own kind too. Crooks and hypocrites at the helm will never grow a nation. Only chaos and disaster beckon.

I wish it were different, but I have long since decided they deserve what they get. No point in banging my head against the wall.

Racism in Malaysia is apparent to anyone who has eyes! Malays are just a bunch of cripples who will collapse to the ground if their tongkat is taken away.

Remove their constitutional rights, their 7% discount on houses, their 30% equity in companies, their quota system in public universities etc……….what is left?

Only a bunch of malays begging in gutters or worse, they may have to eat pork to survive!

If you are to do a study among all Muslim countries, the level of development will be directly proportional to the level of Islamisation of the country.

Just do a study - you will know the fact. The reasons are so obvious why this is so. I do not want to elaborate here to hurt the feelings of Muslims but I mention just two:

- they sidelined the women.
- how many Muslim nations are in deep religious based wars?
- and plus many other activities against productivity.

You cannot have it both ways. Live in this world or live in the after world. There is time only for one.

This is why I see very bleak future for Malaysia the way it is heading - the day when we 'Talibanise' Malaysia.

Our constitution does not say we are a secular state. But by the same token, nowhere does it say we are an Islamic state either.

A country can be Islamic but yet remain secular in government. Turkey, Egypt and Algeria are prime examples. As long as the constitution remains the supreme law of the land, we are an Islamic country but a secular state.

All these are really non-issues as long as everybody sticks to the original game plan.

Look at it one way, it seems like they want to keep the NEP because they are taking advantage of perks and curbs, keep the Umno linked filthy rich.

First of all, the NEP has no goodwill towards the non-malays. They think that the non-malays are rich and can afford to run overseas because of the drought of local university places available?

This is another fallacy. Truth is a lot of the non-malay parents have to work their asses off, keeping a small unit family, just to use all their savings to finance education overseas because local opportunities are not forthcoming and not available.

Malaysia lose a lot of talents in such a way, especially when the NEP has indeed made certain non-malays very competitive on the global scale. For these people having been successful overseas and given a fair go at the opportunities, they will think twice to come home to adversity in Malaysia.

And that is a fact. Do you know that we lose almost 80% of our local talents to the US, UK and Australia every year! Go check the emigration records. Do you know that the Malaysian contingent is the largest oversea students in Australia, and almost 100% that succeeds takes up Australia PR and citizenship?

That is exactly the formula used by many progressive countries including the US, UK, Australia, even China.

These countries have policies that stress both the affirmative action to aid the poor and complement it with an emphasis on high standards, including robbing other countries of their human capital by enticements such as international scholarships.

So I can't understand why it is not palatable or applicable to the malays! Why lay back when you have the world as a challenge.

The failure of the various Malaysia communities to integrate is not because there is no common language, but the ill will festered by the outmoded communal politics that Umno Youth seems want to perpetuate, the NEP, and the lack of Malaysia kinship (e.g. one race want to be tuan).

It is only nature that human beings and animals learn more from failure than success. So, be prepared for a soul cleansing in the next 10 - 20 years in Malaysia.

Yes, the one common denominator is that they are all not Muslim countries. Even among Muslim countries, the less that Islamization is the focus of national existence, the better off the society from a social, political and economic standpoint.

That is why Turkey used to be relatively better off in various aspects compared to other Muslim countries but this has been starting to change recently.

Hate to say it but yes, obsession with Islam is anathema to progress, political stability, peace and economic well being.

We agree that it is difficult to manage a multiracial country like Malaysia with its diverse religions and races. It is also obvious from the discussion that the current political and economic model has failed us, particularly with regards to racial integration.

We are heading towards a crisis. We need to have a paradigm shift in our socio-economic model. Otherwise the omens look bad.

Now humans are humans, be it malays, Japanese or Israelis, when one is in absolute power there will be a tendency to sideline the minorities. Arrogance and abuse will crop in. There is no doubt about it.

To be developed, there should be peace, good sense of responsibilities, equality and cooperation. Of course, good leadership and governance is equally important. Every party should not to be made to feel deprived.

I still feel that mixing religion with politics is not wise - for we can see around the world almost everywhere trouble spots are based on religious differences and in countries where religion is part of politics. That is the reason why Malaysia although a Muslim country should remain secular.

I have the same thoughts. The Islamic peoples, especially the malays, think they are somehow superior because they don't eat pork.

Or reverse, they think the Chinese and other pork eating peoples such as the Americans, Europeans, Japanese etc, are filthy because they eat pork. But the truth is the pork eating peoples are much healthier, wealthier, and overall superior.

The life expectancy of the Japanese is the highest in the world and the Japanese peoples eat a lot of pork. In fact, judging by the life expectancy, the Islamic peoples have the shortest expectancy or the most inferior level of living standard. If this means that they are inferior, then they certainly are.

Maybe as suggested, the malays should copy the Chinese and start eating pork to improve themselves overall. Obviously, not eating pork hasn't helped them to advance.

The malays are a truly hypocrite bunch of people. All this bullshit about the 'freedom of religion' as only appears to apply to anyone but not the malays!

The malays have made Islam such a hated religion with many man-made laws and impositions, all to suit their own convenience, and yet they claim to be 'Islamic' without even practicing the religion as it was intended to be practiced.

If Malaysia only wants Islam, then get rid of all the other races and live truly as 'Malay'sia, and see the country being destroyed by brainless malays monkeys in a matter of one year!

Why can't all races live in harmony? Why must anything that is related to Islam be such a huge contentious issue?

What the hell is the Syariah Court? These so-called Syariah 'lawyers' are a joke to the legal profession. The travesty of justice in Malaysia regarding converts to Islam especially is demeaning and a pathetic joke.

The Federal Court which is the supreme legal authority in Malaysia is 'impotent' against this useless Syariah Court when it comes to matters dealing with conversion! What absolute rubbish!

The malays are nothing but over-zealous hypocrites who don't even understand Islam in the proper context, let alone profess to practice it!

If malays want to progress in the world, you will have to rid the notion of God and your religion. It is your backward religion that is holding you back from every strata.

Look at Muslim countries. They are absolutely backwards in every aspect, living in the most poverty-ridden corners. But when it comes to religion, and building mosques which is half empty always, they build the best ones. Ignoring the poor people who live in shacks.

In Malaysia there is a mosque about every 100km and now they are built along the main streets of all towns. Is it to prove that you are so very religious? You think that every one has only sex in their mind all the time! This is a fault that undermines humans.

Now you have to rid your backward religion and go forward. And you must learn to accept that there is no God but dog.

Malaysia will never achieve developed status, certainly not with the malays. At least Mahathir built two tall structures that got the attention of the world, as he knew that the intellectual 'capabilities' of the malays were as good as a cow in the paddy field, regardless of any kind of miracle!

Despite all that the Malaysia government has been doing for the malays for ages, the malays are still way behind in terms of everything. They are lazy and have become so accustomed to handouts that they refuse to work to earn an honest living.

It is very sad. Why can't all races compete fairly? Remove all the barriers and ensure free competition based on capability and merit, rather than by race. Will that ever happen?

Everything in Malaysia is a joke when it comes to the malays. They are laughed at by everyone in this world for being incompetent, lazy, useless morons.

Be like Raja Petra……….a self-made man to be proud of, also a malay that is objective and can distinguish right from wrong.

If only the malays are a bit smarter, then BN won't win. The problem is malays are too damn stupid that they keep voting for BN. I don't know what poison BN gave to make them in this state.

Interesting article.

The world is rapidly changing, with WTO and globalisation. What is really scary is that many of our Malaysian politicians are still living in the 60s and 70s and have not kept up to the times. They continue to use scare tactics and intimidation.

And let us face the facts; the average malay is just not ready for globalisation. Due to misconstrued policies and handouts, the biggest losers in the globalisation race in Malaysia are unfortunately going to be the malays.

Their solution: Continue fiddling with the wealth redistribution and NEP instead of creation. And the use of scare tactics to prevent any discussion about this.

While the country is gradually slipping down the competitive ladder, the leaders particularly from Umno are playing fiddle.

Smart Malaysians are quietly looking for opportunities to invest overseas or even contemplating emigration.

Nobody wants to be the last passenger to get out in a sinking ship.

It is undeniable that malays are stupid, incapable and lazy. Why don't they just humbly admit the facts and repent and learn from other races especially Chinese?

What is the point to argue here and wasting time again?

From the first onwards we were merely telling the truths. It wasn't us who think that way but their own Badawi as well.

All malays should go and read the newspaper, even Badawi is ashamed of maintaining the NEP after 34 years of implementing it and these malay baboons are still asking for it.

Even Badawi wanted them to compete on a level playing field.

So what does all these tell the world? It sends a very clear message that it is malays themselves who are incapable and lazy and they don't even want to admit it and make a change!

That is the biggest shame of all.

Can't you see, it is all back to square one. Year in, year out, some talk for half an hour, some one, some two. Some sing, many belt out their most recent released 'pantun'.

After all. Malays are good at that. Suggestions after suggestions, some good, some impossible to realize.

But, do you see any of these materialised? Hardly. Why, why and why???

Because the malays can never change. Never! Why?

The leaders forgot or were it they simply didn't want to address and admit that the actual disease is the malays and the remedy itself is also, the malays. They can never change. What is it about the malays?

Firstly as you all know, they are a lazy species. Since the beginning of time they have been like that. Even the encyclopedia called them as lazy people. I think those British with their accent tried to call them 'malas', and if you put 'y' in, it becomes 'malays'.

Embracing Islam make them a worse lot. Now they have a license to kill anything that gets into their way.

Malays are ungrateful lot. In reality, they just can't live or open their minds for others. When Mahathir said that they are complacent, they put him in jail. When Mahathir encouraged them to learn English language, they got angry with him, saying it is a 'bahasa penjajah'.

When other races 'maju', they got angry with them too. That was why at the end of Mahathir his regime, he said this, "I have achieved greatness as a prime minister, but I only fail in one thing, changing the malays."

Well, nothing to be surprised about anyway since Mahathir is not really a malay, and I guess that was why the malays were angry with him.

Drug abuse, hate, incest, liberal extremism (culture of miniskirts and gay marriages), murder, parochialism, racism, rape, religious fanaticism, snatch theft, spoilt-bratty behavior, tribalism, wife abuse, child abuse, all that is associated with the malay race.

To them, malay is the biggest impediment towards building a truly Malaysian nation, and should be chucked into the dustbins of history.

A genetically flawed race cannot be fixed by politically. Nature will take its course and globalization will put them out to pasture.

What have we got now?

Brain drain, economic disparity getting wider, poor education system, racial segregation, widespread corruption, inefficiency and uncompetitive on the government departments and others.

Sad. Sad. Sad. The question asked by many of my fellow Chinese is this - Why can't you just tell the malay peoples to adopt Chinese culture which is superior?

From research, this peninsular was part of the Siamese empire way before these malays from Indonesia invaded it.

Still so thick skin, don't want to go back to Indonesia!

I am currently studying in the Australia, I grew up with the slogan "Malaysia Truly Asia" - however, this is not true, it seems more like "Australia Truly Asia" and let me explain why I think so - when I first landed here, I saw a multi-cultural society consisting of people from various ethnic backgrounds.

It doesn't even matter if the person has landed on the moon, you will only be awarded if you can prove that you deserve it. Your well being here depends on who you are (your personality), and what you can contribute!

Unlike Malaysia, where opportunities are given to the malays, regardless of what they are worth of. Shame! As a Malaysia citizen myself, I am ashamed to tell fellow Australia citizens that I am from Malaysia, because they all know that people like malays are given privileges.

The malays have no pride in themselves and that is why they will never ever be able to compete on a level playing field. There is so much discrimination among the other races that there is no sense of pride whatsoever in being a Malaysian.

Your eyes are open now because you are in the Australia. That is the difference between a developed country and a third world dump!

Show me when do the malays consult or ever extend their hands in friendship. Do the malays really treat non-malays with equity and fairness?

Seriously, I think all races in Malaysia treat each others at arms length. The malays expect other races to kowtow to them and never the way around. For example, Chinese and Indians were made to learn and study malay culture but the malays are not made to learn and study Chinese and Indian culture.

Why do the malays have to be in a superior position (oppressive one at that) all the time? What is wrong for Malaysia to have, say a Chinese chief justice or an Indian chief of armed forces or even a prime minister!

How do we expect them to continue with their goodwill if we do not ever treat them with equity and fairness? I think the malays are paranoid and are projecting their own insecurity onto others.

That is my point and it is time that we begin to envision the land of ours from an inclusively point of view instead of exclusivity point of view. We have to begin this starting point somehow, somewhere and the time is now.

You are wasting your time by presenting the facts. Fact means nothing to them and you should know that by now. The Malaysian Muslims are seriously stupid and severely retarded. I am simply having fun. I work with them everyday and I cannot describe to you their inability to formulate simple logic.

As an adult trying to make it in the real world, I have developed a clear understanding of what goes on around me.

And this what I believe is the real situation in Malaysia. As long as the malays get their way in how things are done in Malaysia - there will never be any serious development in Malaysia.

This is the fundamental. Please avoid giving example of successful malays, because economically, the numbers are too darn low to mean anything. Negligible they call it.

Malays must realise that as humans - they are I suppose equal. But as peoples, they have attitude that is exactly like the aborigines of Africa. Completely hopeless, no matter what you give them.

The malays can never win - for as long as they chose to do things the way it is done now. Eventually, the other races would consume them economically, and they would be second class citizens. This is a matter of time.

My opinion is - the only way for them to succeed, is to take away all special rights and learn to get by on their own abilities. The stupid and weak malays would die - and only the bright ones would survive.

They are doing themselves a favour by taking away their special rights. Because look around you, the other races are getting stronger because our weak ones are dying.

We will continue to get stronger. And there will be a day, when we control all the financial means in the country. Then it is a matter of buying off each one of you puny malays - and then take over the country.
